Dude, get part three up!
What "Part 3" would that be?
I just read through your archives, and I have just one suggestion: PICK UP THE PACE! Your storytelling is excruciatingly slow. I like what you're doing with the art, and the concept is cute, but jesus almighty, step it up. It took more than 10 strips to reveal the main character, and at that point the fact that she was dead was already so obvious that the big color splash panel already felt like overkill. Okay, she's a little girl who is dead and her family doesn't seem to notice/care. I got that much out of the first two or three strips, and after about 20 more that's still all I know.
Of course, feel free to ignore me, or even post in your blog about what a jerk I am. But I only intend this in the spirit of constructive feedback.
Good luck with the comic.
Hello Anonymous,
My intention is to keep the pacing of the strip as a if it was unfolding in real time. I want to reveal the characters and their relationships with each other at a slow and steady pace. The world we live in, where things are instantaneous, is boring to me -- fast TV, action movies, books that read like films scripts. I want to do something different.
In the first chapter of "Once Upon A Corpse..." I wanted to see how long I could go without revealing the main character. Maybe I went too far? Maybe not. You're the only person who has expressed that the strip is too slow. Sorry to have bored you to death. LOL, just kidding. I am surprised you took the time to write me. The fact that you don't back your words with a name is the only problem I have with your criticism. If you continue to follow the strip over the next several months, you'll see that there's more going on than meets the eye. Please feel free to respond or not. You're not a jerk - but perhaps you're a little impatient.
Best- Jason
Yo,
Your stuff is cooler than a bag of shaved monkeys. Put these strips in a book one day. You've got a customer waiting! The art is tight and the writing is spot on.
thanks for the scares and the laughs, you've got a Monster Mash Party feeling going on. Just crank out more stuff would ya!

The strip stays as a weekly for now. Please...PLEASE be patient. I would love to do a daily but I've got to make a living. A collection of strips in book form will be coming in the near future. GAK!

Yo, that's cooler than a sac of dirty eggs! Keep up the work, it's appreciated!
I look forward to your stuff!
Hey Jason,
I too love the style of your comic strip. It reminds me, so far, of a very yesteryear Beaver Cleaver era. I also love the premise. I've always been a fan of the genre of fiction where oddities are taken as normality. Fun, I say!
I have to agree with Anonymous, though. The pacing is rather slow for the amount that you are developing in your strip. By the end of "A Grave Breakfast," a little more than 6 months would have passed in real time. I haven't been here since the beginning, though. I just came in when the last installment of "Shower of the Damned" was due. It wasn't until your latest chapter that I found out you only update once a week. I just fear that you may be losing reader interest by keeping comics from them for so long.
Now, obviously this is your comic and your comic alone, and I wouldn't want to burden you with more than you can handle, but might I suggest at least more than one update a week? Not to compare you with Penny Arcade, but at one point they actually updated only twice a week. They have since gone to three times a week, but as I understand it their entire lives revolve around their comic strip and playing videogames. Just a suggestion.
A couple of questions for you, though. Do you already have a bushel of strips done up? How long does it take you to do a strip from start to finish? Could we see the development of one of your posted strips? I'd love to see the creative process from start to finish showing us your styling.
Thanks, Jason. Other than the obvious want for more of your material, I love what you've done so far. More, more, moooooore brains.

Hey Derek,
I would love to do the strip twice a week, but I have to make a living. I've done about 75 backup strips and want to keep it a weekly so I can have time for other things like, sleeping, eating, getting ready for the birth of our first child (Due at the end of the year)
I will be showing in the near future, the process of making a strip. Start to finish very soon. I'm also getting things ready for a printed version of the strip in comicbook form, around the end of this year. Fans have asked for this and I'd like to deliver.
If people tune out because they're only getting a strip once a week, I really can't do any more for them. It's free to look at, if I do a daily or bi-weekly I'd have to start charging people. I don't want to do that at the moment.
Thanks for taking the time to look and write and I hope you continue to check in on the life.... the UNDEAD life of Courtney and family.
Best and GAK!-
Jason
Big fan. Again, I really hope there will be a book one day.
